Hi cubelet,

You could also consider organizing one yourself. If you have 7 people in your class, you guys can probably manage to run a competition. If you haven't been to competitions before, it might be a good idea to attend a few before trying to organize one. For it to be official, you would need to follow the process under http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/#competitions. Its a good idea to make sure you have at least 15 or so people who would be guaranteed to come before trying to make it official.

If you need any help organizing a competition or have any questions, you can always contact organizers of other competitions to see how they did things and if they would be willing to help.

Hi,

I am scheduled to teach a course entitle "How to Solve a Cube, and More!" at Carnegie Mellon University, and I am planning to host a competition towards the end of the semester. The competition is most likely going to be at CMU, but it's not for sure. Contact me if you have any questions. ilkyooc@andrew.cmu.edu

you could try and run it at the David L lawrence Convention center, it is a big convention center and would attract attention. :P

This thread was posted 4 months ago. Since then there has actually been a competition in Pittsburgh. This thread should have been left unreplied.

correct...and the venue for the cmu competition was pretty good (and free!) so I don't see the need to change it.

Convention centers don't necessarily attract people unless there already there for some reason. Also, they are very expensive to rent.
