noise cancelling headphones

Are noise cancelling headphones allowed during a competition? I would imagine not but it never hurts to ask.

The relevant section of the regulations to this is the following:

2i) While competing competitors must not use sound equipment, other electronic equipment (like walkmans, dictaphones or additional lighting).

I would interpret this to say that noise cancelling headphones are not allowed, but as I said before it never hurts to ask.
